25,000 Evangelical Christians, mostly youths were in attendance.

Kenny "Hittman" Hitt over at tennepel.com posted a rant about the protesters on Friday at the beginning of the 2-day rally. Apparently about 50 protesters showed up to make their protests known to the gathering 25,000.

SFGate.com reported that the protesters were largely ignored, and when interviewed, students and pastors seemed to have no interest in controversy. Here is quote from the article:

Christian Gallion, a 15-year-old in town with his Assembly of God youth group from Humboldt County, shrugged off being called "fascists" by counterdemonstrators.

"It doesn't bother me," Gallion said. "It's a beautiful city, and we don't have anything against the protesters."

His youth pastor had no interest in engaging in political debates.
"I'm not here to hate anybody," Scott Thompson said. "This isn't about Bush or gays or anything other than being here to worship together.

Any large rally of any religious or political nature is going to garner some protesters. That the number was only 50, and that the rally itself was a paid event does not make it newsworthy.

What was newsworthy was, well, in this case I largely agree with the Hittman's statement:

Assemblyman Mark Leno said of the teens "they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco." His is a name long known to conservative newshounds for his legislative insanity:

- Sponsorship of a bill provision allowing an exemption of up to 100 pieces of child pornography for "personal use"
- Blocking "Jessica's Law", which would require strict enforcement of child molestation laws and harsher punishments
- Proposing a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in contradiction to a previous citizen-ratified marriage-definition proposition
- Calling Arnold Schwarzenegger a "homophobe" when the Governator jokingly called political opponents "girlie men"
- Supporting a bill that would ban tasers
- Supporting an unconstitutional bill that would ban ownership of guns in the San Francisco city limits

So, we have a Constitution-violating advocate of pedophilia slinging invectives at a group of kids who want to build churches and help the community.

The only major problem with Hitt's article is the headline which assumes that all 25,000 people at this rally, all Christians, were also all Conservatives. I'm certian a large number in the crowd and a great many pastors are Liberal. They are just as concerned with issues like pronography, the bombarding of our youth with messages that are self-destructive and on and on.

But Hitt failed to note, perhaps, the worst aspect being the intolerance shown by city officials. Liberal politicians (which are more the norm in the Bay Area) is supposed to be more tolerant and open-minded. But according to the S.F. Chronicle,

The teens were greeted Friday at a kick-off rally at City Hall by an official city condemnation and protesters who called them anti-gay, anti-choice and intolerant. Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, suggested they "get out of San Francisco."

Apparently they official condemnation was a first for a rally at a public stadium in the City.

That's a problem.

But as usual our biased "Liberal Media" here in the Bay Area filed this report on the rally:

Fair, unbaised, and largely upbeat. Not all Liberals are the miror image of intolerant Conservatives...just a few.

Mr. Jesus Sleeves

Dougy T may be correct that Hillary Clinton is using the Jesus card. But he is incorrect that George Bush has not consistently done the same.

While stumping for the presidency, George Bush Jr. openly embroidered Jesus on his sleeve saying that Jesus was his hero. When that did not suffice, he , in back room negotiations with powerful Fundagelicals, showed them his Jesus/AA tattoo.

It's all show on both sides.

But what happens when the real Jesus shows up (not the one depicted above that they want you to see). From the book of Matthew:

"But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.

So how does that shake out for you?

I admit that the idea of eternal punishment is unsavory to me...but I will not mute Jesus' words.

Nope.

These Hyper-Nationalists place personal politics, war, fear, and their own social agendas above any Gospel considerations.

They don't want Jesus on their sleeve because it's a little too close to their hearts and they might get infected.

Savage Soft Drinks

Doug TenNepal, cartoon artist behind Catscratch and best know for Earthworm Jim, has a rabid Right-Wing blog. In that blog, today, he accuses "Dr. Laniac" of being a "CryBaby". This is interesting both because Doug then proceeds to whine on and on for a good long while, and also because a new University of California study is out (started in the mid-60s) that has charted the social growth of particularly "whiny crybabies" and how they have turned out now decades later. I will expand upon this later, but it will surprise few that a great majority of them turned out to be rabid Conservatives. The logic is simply. They feel more fearful by nature regardless of nurture.

Well a great example of this is Michael Savage, the radio host of "Savage Nation" and his clone of a son Mini-Savage, who is the head of Rockstar, the energy drink.

Dr. Laniac was simply pondering a boycott of Rockstar products, which is his free right. Just as it is the right of 6 million people to allow Savage to throw-up in their ears a nasty bile-filled combination of violence, homophobia and hate.

We can choose to not economically support such people.

Once again we are talking about accountability. Conservative pretend to be about accountability, and I am sure many moderate Conservatives are. In fact, in the last election I voted for a staunch Conservative because he was a true public servant and an honest man.

He did not win.

But this administration is not about accountability at all. And they play on fear and sublimal hate.

We just don't have to buy it. That's part of Democracy.

But what was TenNepal's reaction to a possible boycott?

"I'm gonna buy a six pack" of it.

This is not unusual. Typical knee-jerk emotional reaction.

Like Savage, TenNepal has also urged simply nuking Arabs, embraces the same Social Darwinism that leads to violence and takes glee in owning the largest SUV he can so he can foul the planet.

On the other hand he is not racist, and probably not homophobic...just angry.

It's all a form of spiritual Nihilism. It's Gluttony, Wrath with a splash of Avarice thrown into the cocktail.

To his credit, Dougy T points to an article at Salon.com. But he points (as usual) to the wrong one. HERE is the one you really wanna read. It's disgusting but true.

Why are Dougy's panties all in a bunch?

Boycott.

Based in fear (and one which is groundless) TenNapel feels such boycott's could "someday" extend to him.

Right-Wing paranoia.

I suppose if he gets even more crazy and starts promoting active violence, or sexual harassment or is caught in some scandal, a boycott of Catscratch could ensue.

But that isn't gonna happen. Doug's basically a Pharisee. He's a very moral guy who takes his self-righteousness seriously.

I am a Liberal and Doug hates my guts. But I wouldn't ask children to miss an episode of Catscratch that they wanted to watch. It's a very well done cartoon with some nice humor. It has a Scottish cat in it! Even I can hardly resist.

Men and women are entitled to their political opinions to a very wide degree here in America. Then they do their jobs.

Even Michael Savage is entitled to be an endless radio asshole...so long as he doesn't threaten real people or commit overt crimes.

But we can turn off our radios when he comes on and we do not have to buy Mini-Savage drinks if it fuels an empire we feel is harmful to others. We also can choose to pay a bit more for a ClifBar over a competitior because they spend millions protecting the Environment.

We have the FREEDOM to do that. It's all a part of free Capitalism.

Stranegly, Dougy T does not understand this at all.

Dougy T will go buy that six-pack (such a party animal) and I won't ever again.

That's freedom baby.

I wish I had thought of it, but i didn't. The experience of waking up to the same nightmarish scenario, day after day and hearing exactly the same words no matter what was noted by Philadelphia Inquirer political journalist Dick Polman. It's a damning indictment that should be read all the way through and can be found HERE.

Bush continues to lie and change his story. Two days ago he made this statement: "I don't think we ever said -- at least I didn't say -- that there was a direct connection between Sept. 11 and Saddam Hussein."

Now you were all there right?

Jon Stewart on The Daily Show made essentially the same point. Bush keeps to the same dead rhetoric. It worked at first because people were afraid after the attack. Now thatwe are in an epic debacle that was unnecessary and may cost $1 trillion dollars of your money and your children's money, the old rhetoric seems more and more to be what it is...empty rhetoric.

The source of Bush's political success was his claim that he could protect Americans. Leadership, strength and security were Bush's calling cards. Over the past two weeks, they were lost in the surging waters of New Orleans.

But the first intimations of the end of the Bush Era came months ago. The president's post-election fixation on privatizing part of Social Security showed how out of touch he was. The more Bush discussed this boutique idea cooked up in conservative think tanks and Wall Street imaginations, the less the public liked it. The situation in Iraq deteriorated. The glorious economy Bush kept touting turned out not to be glorious for many Americans. The Census Bureau's annual economic report, released in the midst of the Gulf disaster, found that an additional 4.1 million Americans had slipped into poverty between 2001 and 2004.

Bush attempted to federalize the Louisiana National Guard and take control of the situation on two separate occasions, and was soundly rebuffed by Blanco.

Read the links I posted HERE. They CLEARLY enumerate the responsibilities (and resulting culpability) of each member of the US government.

You have to understand something. THE PRESIDENT HAS NO LEGAL AUTHORITY TO FORCE A GOVERNOR TO ASK FOR HELP. The only way the President can legally take control without the Governor's consent is to have the city of New Orleans declared in revolt. Is that what you wanted to happen?

Here is the actual timeline:

Hurricane Katrina hit on Monday, August 29th. Governor Blanco wrote to President Bush on Saturday, August 27th, when it became obvious that Katrina was going to require resources in excess of the state's ability to provide them.

"Dear Mr. President,
"Under the provisions of Section 501 (a) of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 5121-5206 (Stafford Act), and implemented by 44 CFR 206.35, I request that you declare an emergency for the State of Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina for the time period beginning August 26, 2005, and continuing. The affected areas are all the southeastern parishes including the New Orleans Metropolitan area and the mid state Interstate I-49 corridor and northern parishes along the I-20 corridor that are accepting the thousands of citizens evacuating from the areas expecting to be flooded as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

"Pursuant to 44 CFR 206.35, I have determined that this incident is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the State and affected local governments, and that supplementary Federal assistance is necessary to save lives, protect property, public health, and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a disaster. I am specifically requesting emergency protective measures, direct Federal Assistance, Individual and Household Program (IHP) assistance, Special Needs Program assistance, and debris removal.

"Preliminary estimates of the types and amount of emergency assistance needed under the Stafford Act, and emergency assistance from certain Federal agencies under other statutory authorities are tabulated in Enclosure A."

There is your official request tendered as required by law on the 27TH!

Katrina occurred on Monday, August 29th. The federal troops showed up on Friday, September 2nd. Five days elapsed between the request and direct assistance.

Bush & Co. fucked up big time. A lot of people lost their lives because of the Federal Government's incompetence. For Bush to now insinutate that it was local government's fault is typical and sick. He had the request and failed to act on it.

Bush could not stop one death with Katrina, nor can he stop every terrorist attack that's coming down the pipe nor can he perfectly respond to hurricanes. This is not because people are black, it's because we live in a sequential universe.

It was perhaps unspecified, but the Bush Administration had intelligence on possible terrorist attacks in this way. That is a well know FACT. No emotion. Simple fact.

Living in a "sequential universe" means responding to a natural disaster in a sequential manner.

You are the commander-in-chief and you know two days ahead of time that a potential disaster is mounting. Sequence One. You prepare.

You study the ten years of warnings and make sure FEMA is ready to respond in case (in case) what is predicted happens. Sequence Two. You plan ahead.

When the storm hits and does an unbelievable amount of devastation you move with the resources of the most advances and capable tools ever possessed by any country at any time. And you move NOW. Sequence three.

If your FEMA director only knows how to breed Arabian horses, you turn it over to the military. You make a decision, not sit there on your ranch and vacation another day or so (or blink twice and keep reading a kids book). Sequence Four.

You do not divert much needed military equipment to "look presidential" at press conferences when you could actually "be presidential" instead. Sequence Five.

When you fuck up, or your administration does, you take responsibility and do not blame those who are drowning and fighting for their lives...Especially if you are from the "accountability" administration (that takes responsibility for NOTHING). Sequence Six.

If we live in a "sequential universe" then this administration will be held accountable for its incompetence in due time.

Doug & Co do not want that. They want accountability for everyone else...then cry "oh no blaming!" when it suits them. Sorry boys.

He who lives by the blame dies by the blame.

Hurricane Katrina: Act of Nature or Act of Allah?
While our Coast Guard is airlifting 10, 000 trapped residents of New Orleans to the safety of dry land, the Islamofascists are praising Allah, the "merciful one" for afflicting the infidels with Katrina. Adherents of "the religion of peace" rejoice in the suffering of millions displaced and disoriented by a horrific act of nature. Operating with their usual vampiric double standard, they fail to see Allah's will in the tsunami unleashed on the Muslim world some months ago. Incidentally, it was the U.S. that came to the rescue of distressed storm survivors, some of whom received our largesse sporting bin Laden T-shirts. These are people who play soccer with heads of dead soldiers and who chant "Allahu Akhbar," (God is Great) while cutting the heads off civilians. While we cannot account for an indifferent nature that unleashes its forces "at will" we can hold accountable those abject members of our species who deliberately target the world for terror. Islamofascism aims to flood the globe until it has washed away the infidel, modernity, liberty, capitalism, human rights, government of law, and decency. Islamofascism aims at global hegemony. Once Sharia, Islamic law, is imposed, we can anticipate the world of Taliban-ruled Afghanistan coming to a theater near you. It will be a landscape without music, without traces of other religions or philosophies, without individuality or free will, without dancing or women treated as equals, without equality before the law or listening to radios, flying kites or playing sports. It will bea totalitarian horizon. We've seen it before, in the Nazi death camps of Europe, in the death marches conducted by the Japanese fascists, in the Soviet communist gulag, in Pol Pot's killing fields and in the Darfur region of the Sudan. Wherever the storm surge of Islamofascism washes over the world, there is misery and murder. The victims of this plague of truly biblical proportions are subjected to forced conversions, conquest, enslavement, and dhimmitude, subjugation as an oppressed minority in a fascist theocracy. Next to the totalitarian world of Islamofascism, Hurricane Katrina pales.

Bin Laden and his boys are planning the next tsunami of terror to coincide with Ramadan. They are calling it the Ramadan Offensive, timed for October to coincide with the Muslim month of fasting. Significantly Muslim soldiers in the field are exempt. Al Qaeda's hunger for the blood of the infidel outweighs even religious prohibitions. How seriously should we take the most recent series of videos featuring second in command Zawahiri and communiqu's from Zarqawi to his commander bin Laden? Chatter, both encrypted and open exceeds the level of the period prior to 9/11. A senior Al Qaeda operative was seized in Pakistan with maps of Italian, German and British cities lodged in his computer. Zarqawi associate al-Jazaeri has been active in Italy where counter-terrorism barricades are being erected around ancient monuments. Western Civilization has been targeted with specific references to airports in the Netherlands and Italy, US and Israeli interests in the Middle East, Western European cities, and, of course, the U.S. itself.

We know, in the aftermath of 9/11, to take the words and deeds of the Islamofascists seriously. The pattern of video releases prior to the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Saudi Arabia and the London bombings reappears in the current round of Zawahiri shorts. He threatens attacks that will eclipse our losses in Vietnam. Jihadists are concluding that the punch delivered by Katrina has weakened us for more decisive blows they plan to deliver. They are anticipating a major loss of life and an overwhelming financial blow. Counterterrorism expert Joseph Bodansky warns that concrete plans for consolidation of "jihad springboards" are underway linking the Balkans, Chechnya and the tri-border area of South America.

Zarqawi stated on August 21st: The mujahideen in Iraq have moved the battle for the ground to the land of the cross. They refer to Muslims attacking Western Europe to get revenge on the "Crusaders" in their own homes. They sight Iraq as the new Afghanistan, hoping for victory to launch a new base of operations against the infidels.

They are hoping the American left will destroy the will of the American people, surrender Iraq and appease them. They are hoping the US will continue to let the invasion of Mexican and Other Than Mexican illegal immigrants inundate our shores. If our levees of law enforcement do not protect our sovereignty we must call on the military the way we did to deal with the hurricane. Our National Guard can do for our borders what they did for our citizens on the Gulf and in New Orleans. One of our cities was submerged. We cannot afford to surrender in Iraq or at home. If we are submerged in a sea of Islamofascism, that might just be a scenario we don't want to survive. Meanwhile, prepare your emergency go-bag, bottled water, food, medicines, all the things needed for evacuation as your way of celebrating Ramadan and the threatened Ramadan Offensive.

Is this overstating the case? There is no way to tell. I certainly disagree about the American left doing anything to destroy the will of the American people. But there are some good points here.

Katrina was an act of nature, not God or caused by some human agency. To suggest so is just plain silly.

Let hope today is a day of quiet mourning and reflection.

Thousands of humans are being killed by this disaster...we actually know about the animals...it's just that we don't care (and should continue not to care).

I saw a bunch of humans trying to rescue a human woman who would not leave if they would not also rescue her damned dog. My suggestion is that rescue workers should immediately shoot these animals in the head so their owners will be free to leave. It's not mean, mean is rescuers wasting their time on animals at the cost of rescuing humans. Resources are tight, and it is immoral to spend them on pets.

Doug's at it again. Bashing Cindy Sheehan and all Liberals.

He cannot help it. He is run by emotion and a darkened world-view filled with fear and loathing.

He claims some level of objectivity because he, and a few others, have come out against Pat Robertson's insane doctrine of assasination. Good for you Doug.

Sheehan, not an accomplished speaker or thinker, has made some misteps to be sure. Those should be noted. Here is a quote given to CBS News where one such gaff is obvious:

"No, because it's not true," Sheehan replied. "You know Iraq was no threat to the United States of America until we invaded. I mean they're not even a threat to the United States of America. Iraq was not involved in 9-11, Iraq was not a terrorist state. But now that we have decimated the country, the borders are open, freedom fighters from other countries are going in, and they [American troops] have created more terrorism by going to an Islamic country, devastating the country and killing innocent people in that country. The terrorism is growing and people who never thought of being car bombers or suicide bombers are now doing it because they want the United States of America out of their country."

It's hard to argue with anything she says until she uses the term "Freedom Fighters". I would also take issue with Irag not being "a terrorist state". If they had had the means (which they obviously did not) the designation would fit. What they did to the Kurds is just one example.

But they did not possess WMD, nor did they take part in the attack on 9/11.

Fact. Deal with it Dougey-boy. No emotion. Fact.

Their initial resistance to invasion was, at times, like throwing dirt clods at tanks. Hmnn...take away the word "like".

There are more terrorists now due to the invasion. They are not "Freedom Fighters'. They are "Terrorists" fuled by religious zeal and rage. How else do you explain the widespread use of suicide bombings? Like all Fundamentalists, these people are deadly earnest.

Anyway, when Sheehan calls them "Freedom Fighters" she is as misguided as Bush & Co were when he stood on the flight deck and declared the war was over. Neither of them understands the terrorist mindset.

This is not about being emotional. Deal with the facts Doug...deal with what is HAPPENING on a daily basis, not your need to feel secure as a Conservative.

More people will die today for no good reason. There is no exit strategy and you will sit on your fat ass and draw comics all day long and whine about the Liberals. At least some of them have the balls to call this war what it is. Wrong.

I sincerely doubt that Doug literally meant for she and her family to be sprayed with a firehose. However, their conduct, in my opinion, has been more than disrespectful.

If you find his post he makes no bones about it. As a big fan of the late Dr. Thompson I understand the role of hyperbole. But ...well take a look for yourself. I obviously cannot speak to your personal experience of Doug. It seemed violent and cruel to me, and did not deal with any rationale.

She has chosen to make her son out to be some sort of martyr, against what, by most accounts, would be his wishes. She neglects to mention that her son not only volunteered for the military, but he re-enlisted WHILE in Iraq and also volunteered to go on a rescue mission to save his fellow soldiers' lives when, as a mechanic, he had no obligation to do so.

Well her son is a hero, and brave to want to serve and re-enlist. I have close friends serving there myself. A great many of them hate this war but love their country and are willing to serve. The two are not exclusive.

One of the great tragedies of the Veitnam conflict was how soldiers were treated by those protesting the war. To protest an unjust war is a good thing, but to make men and women who serve under orders suffer in any way is just wrong. The legacy of that war, from both perspectives is ugly and painful.

Even if Cindy Sheehan's son disagreed, any American parent has the right to ask for accountability. While our President takes anothr of his many long vacations, men and women are dying with no exit strategy to get them home.

People are so eager to blame Bush for the deaths of soldiers that they overlook that, in the US, military service is all-volunteer. As a libertarian (which gets me no small amount of guff from Doug, let me tell you), my political philosophy emphasizes personal responsibility. Liberals in America are so eager to blame Bush for the deaths of soldiers that they overlook major facts, such as:

*The evidence on which Bush made his case for war was examined and endorsed not only by the Senate, but also by the previous administration. Al Gore himself, prior to Bush's election, referred to Hussein as a threat to America.

We now know this was based on falsified evidence. We all knew that Hussein was an enemy. That proves nothing. We also, many, suspected there were no WMD and that we had moved from a viable enemy who did attack us (Bin-Laden) to one who had not. Had the 9/11 attack been sponsored by Hussein that would have changed everything (note that even Liberals do not oppose the Afghan conflict).

You also know by now that Bush had, on the table, a plan and intention of attacking Iraq before 9/11. He does what he wants, and we pay the price, particularly our soldiers. Your point abt volunteerism is a good one. My friend Mike didn't like going, but he went knowing he had chosen to serve.

*The weapons of mass destruction claim was only one of 17 points that the US presented the UN. Under UN resolution 687, Hussein's manipulation of the inspections of his facilities ALONE would have resulted in military sanctions.

I remember this time well. The WMD was the lynchpin of their argument. Even as such, we do not attack every country that has such capabilities. The Bush doctrine (which his father does not endorse) is pre-emptive. Hussein did not attack us. He had no means even if he wanted.

He DID jerk the weapons inspectors around until the last period. Then he could not. I personally hold the Clinton administration highly (note that) accountible for not keeping Hussein's feet to the fire on weapons inspections through their 8 year term.

I would be interested in reviewing the other terms. I just remember Colin Powell's reaction to the report that it was "bullshit".

*When conservatives bring up the Kurds, liberals always give the standard answer..."with weapons we sold him." They leave out that US military contributions to Iraq accounted for less than 1.5% of total between 1973 and 2001. In fact, the biggest majority lies with China, the USSR, and France.

I am a Liberal. It doesn't matter that we sold them to Hussein any more than it really matters that we did business with Bin-Laden. What is relevant is what Hussein decided to do to the Jurds and what Bin-Laden decided to do to us. What happened to the Kurds was evil and Hussein is evil.

Sheehan has said, in a quote, that she wanted her son to desert from the military and make a run to Canada. She makes outrageous claims, like her ability to channel her son's spirit from heaven. Rather than memorializing her son's memory, she has tried to divert the spotlight onto herself time and time again. Might I ask why it is that Cindy Sheehan gets so much airtime, when the families of passed soldiers who SUPPORT our military actions in Iraq get none? It's not her opinion that I find upsetting, it's her media whoring. "We now have catering" indeed.

Frankly I cannot respond to this. You may be right for all I know. She may have other motives. I do know that the reason she gets as much media is because between 55 and 60 psercent of the American people are now questioning this fiasco. They want...no WE WANT Bush to be accountible for his lies, actions and the loss of life.

I have no doubt that Ms. Sheehan feels a great sense of loss, but she is also allowing herself to be a willing puppet for individuals and groups like MoveOn.org, CodePink, George Soros, Michael Moore, and Martin Sheen.

There are really good people in those groups. The smear and misnomer is that if you oppose the war and are a Liberal that you are somehow unpatriotic. That is as ridiculous as saying that Conservatives are fascists. Okay, a few are. A few Libs are off their rocker.

Michael Moore has, well done some good by opening up some real questions that need to be aired in a Democracy. On the other hand, I am a former journalist, and some of his methods and even the accuracy of some things he reports is highly questionable and sensationalistic. I'll take Mr. Moore with a pillar of salt.

MoveOn.org is an imprtant accountability group as ultra-conservatives try to circumvent long established legal and legislative processes. I would hope conservative groups would howl like crazy if some of the same tactics were used (and perhaps they have).

Morever, people like Sheen and groups like Sojourner's bring an important faith element to the mix. Yesterday I received this snippet.

Buried deep within the No Child Left Behind Act is a provision that requires public high schools to hand over students' private contact information to military recruiters. If a school does not comply, it risks losing vital federal education funds.

How do you, Kenny, as a Libertarian feel about the above?

What sticks in my craw is that people act as if we, meaning conservatives, are letting our religion act as an excuse for our political beliefs. This is not the case. I can come up with a secular, sociological argument for any challenge to my conservative beliefs. People also act as if, as a Christian, I am to be a doormat for anyone who wrongs me. I do not believe this is Biblical. When Christ told us to turn the other cheek, I do not believe he meant for us to do so in submission, but in defiance.

It's ironic, but I think that you can probably do just that. That was an earlier point I made about Social Darwinism. In a Gospel-less world, the Conservatiev agenda is logical. The powerful rule. To a certain extend Rome is a great example of this. I'm sure you have seen the Life of Brian...where they keep going on about all the Romans have done "and the aquaduct..."

But Gospel is subversive and counter-culture (Ellul and Berger). As such it always questions the dominant power structures, whether Liberal or Conservative or whatever. The Sermon on the Mount stands in defiance of both.

What much of the liberal political hemisphere, especially those who consider themselves Christian, fail to realize is that there is a very real movement in the west to suppress religion in all its forms. Does it seem fair to you that children of any faith are not allowed in some schools to pray on their own? Or that children in France can be kicked out for wearing Muslim or Sikh headgear, such as turbans and scarves? Or that religious organizations in Canada can be charged with a hate crime if they criticize any minority group? It isn't just religious expression that is in danger, but freedom of speech as a whole.

I suppose a lot of the reason we gave so much of a backlash against anything that we perceive as dishonesty stems a lot from the fact that many of us feel that we have been lied to by, for example, the mass media. One need only look back at "Rathergate" for a very juicy example.

The media is no longer journalism. It's propaganda. It's bullshit both left and right. I quit as a journalist because I wasn;t allowed to do honest and real stories. It's all about ad revenues.

Regardless, most arguments against the war are Monday-morning quarterbacking at best, ostrich-head ignorance at worst. We are now in Iraq, and now, for good or ill, we have to succeed.

And when liberals say that we should simply cut and run, they fail to fully grasp what a potentially devastating blow that could mean to the region. Syria, Jordan, and Iran are restless as it is, what would happen if their next-door neighbor were to descend into an anarchic state, as the Sudan has? These nations, some of whom have long-standing feuds with each other, would cannibalize each other in a very short amount of time. Once that finishes, the survivors will turn their attention on Isreal, who may be the only ones keeping wahabist terrorism from spreading into Europe.

Again, I am a Liberal. I do not see a way. Just pulling out now would be a disaster.

People are going to hate America no matter what we do. If we had found WMDs in Iraq, we would have been blamed for letting him get them. If he had used them, we would have been blamed for the deaths of innocents, and if we had retaliated, we would have been accused of killing a gnat with a sledgehammer.

I disagree. Had we found WMD we might have retained some credibility. Bush Sr. was a coalition builder, his son is a destroyer in that regard. he took the good will of the world after 9/11 and smashed it with a sledgehammer. We are the world's only superpower. The Crimes and the Beatings

Their crimes are manifold, like a 67 Chevy going off a clif on fire. There is not much can be done they do not do to themselves.

Still.

With Mac they attacked his sexuality, accusing him of being gay on many occasions, a pussy, and used a pedophile metaphor.

They attacked his spirituality.

These are the usual things on a theological blog.

They accused him of upwards near six-plus online personalities stretching from California (where the water makes you vote blue...yet is strangely Republican) to Boston (which apparently is just as bad).

They attacked the memory of his dead brother and even questioned his existence. They attacked his childen and implied that they were impaired or deranged.

They waded through countless Blog entries to try and find the most vulnerable and personal ones they could, then published them again with derisive remarks meant to be cutting and cruel.

They would accept no apologies even though Mac was honest enough to tender them on a few occasions.

They used every epitaph they could find: gay, queer, pinko, fag, moron, idiot, pussy, coward, ass, asshat, marxist, wierdo, sicko, psycho, douche bag, ...this is a small sample...you get the idea.

They publish this shit everyday, but you cannot say "shit" on their site.

This is an Internet mob.

They are on their own lsland of Flies and they have a Lord and it ain't Jesus because Jesus doesn't hate. He never called anyone a douche bag, pussy, psycho, sicko, wierdo, marxist, fag or pinko, etc (add fifty other slanders). I finished post one and decided to check in with the forum at Tenwhatshisname.com.

Banned. It's an IP ban so Mac is also banned and I guess everyone else in this building. No loss.

Just note that I predicted this awhile back. If you hang in and are not intimidated, they fold. Utterly.

They use excuses..."I'm too busy...I'm bored" (hours after saying they found it entertaining), "I'm too rich and famous"..."you are not being 'rational'" when all you have done is that while they go "neener neener neener" and accuse of the most horrible filth and atrocities.

I have not deleted one of their posts, no matter how duplicitous or vile. Mac won't divulge the emails from Doug. He just says they were "often insulting and a smear".

Doug posted private emails and then allowed the banning to silence other opinions.

Several people I know have looked at the over 270 posts about , well, basically me at Doug Tenpanel's site. I thought "gang" was a good word, but I was corrected. "Mob" was the word that rang true.

Mob mentality is a curious thing. A group of folk break off from any type of civility and their internal demons begin to emerge in the most savage of ways, even among themselves, but most forcefully with anyone who enters from outside.

I was thinking about Doug and his, probably best known character, Earthworm Jim. Pretty entertaining and well-drawn.

But peak behind the veneer that is Tenpanel.com and it looks more like piles of shit with earthworms crawling out. I say this with the exception of one Sideache character, who seems to possess a brain and some sense. Occasional Achoo exhibits some level as well.

Rand and Javajerk are simply rabid dogs...or rabid Flies in this case. They attack Mac because he uses a fictitious character to voice a contrary opinion, yet they do the same without shame.

Yes, Doug TenNapel (I can never get his name right...what's the etymology of that name?) is the Lord of the Flies incarnate.

His savagery and his promotion of it to his minions is obvious to anyone who visits (and please do...the level of shaming, blaming and paranoia is very reflective of Golding's book).

As I predicted days ago...well, here it is again:

He will answer no direct question with anything remotely like an answer or rational.
He will claim to be rational, without presenting any evidence.
He will shame and blame on any issue he can. If he finds a swear word here he will mark it while he pumps out the vilest hate-filled filth on his own site (and swears).
He will resort to stereotypes that are antiquated at best.
He will resort to labeling rather than presenting any logical case
He will beg off saying he has "no time" when he is confronted and engaged on the above.

This is what Fundies do. All of these things have transpired just as I foresaw. Every one of them. I can document it if you like, but I doubt even deranged Doug can prove otherwise once he reviews his various responses.

Let me say this, Doug is NOT a dishonest man. He really believes all of his own bullshit...every bit and he is very consistent. He does not lie. The worst you can say is he avoids...but even that in moderation.

Still, I do see him as the new Lord of the Flies. Just as in Goldings book, not all the characters are utterly "sold out" to his view...or not yet. But overall their is a savagery that is palpable. It is a mob and the group at Doug's site is a mob.

There chief weapon is shaming folk. It is emotional and it is meant to inflame and intimidate.

The answer to this is simple. Do not shrink back in the least. Eventually they will find an excuse to ban or silence you, even if you have been five times as civil, reasonable and respectful as they have been.

It's a mob.

The mob cannot handle truth or dissent outside the limited issues they have already agreed to disagree on. Anything outside that will be severely stomped...if you let it be.

Don't.

Dissent. Reject all blaming (except for any real transgression) and hold the line. Oherwise these Shamers will take over the Island and there will be hell to pay for everyone. You will end up like Piggy, at the bottom of the ravine and the conch shell broken.

They want violence. Doug wrote Mac and told him he "loved war".

I just received notice from mac about recent emails from Doug PenaDeniNapoleonFrightNight.

Mac is depressed.

I told him it was futile to try and converse with this strutting Ass, but he never listens to me.

Wuss.

This is why I object to Christianity. They are all little Constantines. They want worldly power, fame, riches AND spiritual superiority over everyone else at the same time. They are Caesar, Pilate, Herod and Caiaphas all in a Jesus wrapper.

It makes me sick.

So Mac, who will still not send me the emails, did indicate that the maniacal turd wrote him and tried to shame him (note my earlier posts) about his own dead brother and the dead brother of a close friend.

This utter newbie who was born probably after the Vietnam conflict was over and has never served in the armed forces (just like his hero Dubya) has the utter audacity to write the following:

Our previous wars were won with tanks, but those tanks only had the staying power provided by the moral will of Americans back home. We didn't lose Viet Nam because it was a ground war, we lost it because we gave up. We lost the will to fight.

First of all, Napoleoan Assomite, we did not use tanks primarily in Vietnam. We used airpower.

We had no good reason to be there and it was, but the way, Liberal Democrats who landed us there. We lost the "moral will" because it was an immoral war. We were never attacked and the majority of the populace of this democracy saw that and protested the loss of innocent American lives and the destruction of a whole country.

Of course, you would just gas them or turn hoses on them in the true spirit of American freedom. What a Patriot!

The difference in this current conflict is that the tragedy of blaming soldiers for an immoral war is not being repeated.

The soldiers of Vietnam were treated horribly on their return. The accountability for the gross errors in judgement by Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and the Pentagon fell on them.

Shameful and wrong.

We are not repeating that mistake. Our soldiers are heros and often martyrs for your political agenda as you sit snug in Hollywood.

If you see Vietnam as a lack of "moral will" then you will support this war to the ends of the earth.

Blood on your hands and all who support it.

It's the "Pax Americana" and the answer is the same here as it was in Rome.

Having reviewed, it is obvious that his sole tactic is dead rhetoric to an audience that already agrees with his every seizure, however utterly Re-Gresso-Publican it is. Worse, he is a rabid born-again type who thinks that Jesus salutes the American flag, loves war and seems fine with the fact that his own children will grow up hating him because he "did the right thing" by spanking them.

I did the unthinkable a few weeks back and wrote evangelist Pat Robertson a thank you note.

I did it because he pitched in with the One.org crowd, rising above partisan politics to try and bring relief to Africans, 6,500 a day, who are dying from disease or starvation.

I was so surprised to see his face on the One.org TV commercial. It made me think he might be a good guy under the weighty girth of his vast political agendas and the crap that has swirled around his various colonial aspirations.

Well shit. Now he has gone and done it, and I have already checked his official website and he is utterly unrepentant about his statements on ABC news recently. In the interview, Robertson made the following assertions:

* Robertson agreed with some his earlier statements that only Christians and Jews are qualified to serve in American government

* He suggested Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a communist because she worked for the ACLU

* Robertson insisted that federal judges who fail to share his worldview are a greater threat to the fabric of America than terrorism today, Nazis during WWII, and the Civil War

* He dismissed the significance of the 9/11 terrorists as a few bearded-terrorists who fly into buildings

Most, or some, of what you are about to read is true. The rest is just good fun and for your entertainment and edification.

The MacMan knows this flaming retard White...a small-minded plump mini-me of a man of no small reputation (for shameless cowardice and for fouling the Internet and many a Jr. High School gymnasium with his sordid debate tactics).

Like a fool, the Macman tried to use reason and a few literary devices to smoke this scoundrel out. It had moderate success. To his credit, White's minions crawled away, one by one, after Mac beat them like a gong. These files are on record here...but Mac tells me there will be no more of this nonsense on a site as serious as The Doghouse.

But he is a rank amateur and far too fair and kind.

So it was with some glee that I received the following short note from him a few days ago...

Well, you can hear both the frustration in his words, and perhaps a bit of whining. Mac's a good man, but an utter wuss. I'd flog him like a dead rat if he was not a foot and a half taller than me...and strangely, a man who owns a humongous Scottish Sword that could cleave and Hummer in half if he brought his full weight down. I dunno..I'd have to catch him in his sleep...which I can do anytime because I rarely sleep.

THE ART and THE COMIC

Well just have a look at the above. It's all there!

Any normal human not pumped up with dangerous drugs, alcohol or pure white-cane hubris would shamfully lurk away from such a depiction...especially if you are not a tall muscular highland warrior, but instead a short pudgy coward in a bad suit who is headed for the nearest Krispy Kreme.

It's just not right and it is an utter embarassment.

But there are moments in the art that do ring true (look again above). Look at the "glee" in the face of the attacker. That is real. Why he is wearing sunglasses I do not know. Maybe it is because he read somewhere that Bono does.

Anyway...yadda yadda yadda...sword set to strike you dead...people crying and running away...a monkey dressed in a weird outfit...James with muscles...it is all very "Jack Chick"... all very sick, twisted and utterly wrong.

There is a level of religious perversion here that is not attainable by any average sinner. We simply cannot keep up.

In other words, it is hard to turn my stomach on these issues...but seeing White's own book about the Bible strapped laciviously to his own loins is beyond any parody I might think of in my most depraved nightmare.

Poor Mrs. White. Imagine this a-hole bearing down on you (see above) after a particularly bad debate. Fat head...shit-eating grin of lust...and you gotta read his book first if you are to get the slightest tiny bit of satisfaction in the midst of his attack!

I once asked him if he ever listening to any real music (as opposed to Steve Camp who an immense blueberry and will be in the upcoming remake of Willy Wonka as Augustus Gloop) like Peter Gabriel? He began to argue with me that Peter and Gabriel were two different people in the Bible.

I agreed with him.

He then said I "didn't agree" with him because that put him in an impossible position and since ultimate truth is propositional and an impossible position is not possible, it was therefore I who disagreed with him even though, as I said, I agreed with him and was actually talking on a another track about a real musician and artist and not a no-talent loser like Camp.

So we agreed to disagree, once I agreed to be the one who was wrong because "White is Always Right".

I'd have a bumper sticker made of that but people would think whoever put one on their car was an arrogant white supremicist ass, when in fact...well you see the point.

I am going to create one on Cafe Press that says "In the Degree, but not Of the Degree: The James White Story."

I just wanna point out that WHITE (who shall hitherunto be referred to simply as "Mr. Boweeval" is charging $5 a piece for his little blue braclet (gosh shouldn't it be red?).

RECLAIMING AMERICA FOR CHRIST.

This is the banner cry of the Fundagelical Dominatrix Church of the Divine Me-ism. It assumes, among many things, that America once belonged to Christ, which it never has, and His agenda is to claim this nation (which is His fav) in true neo-colonial fashion.

How convenient. And how utterly stupid.

Christ came, and comes to love, to meet, and to redeem every nation as lost as ours. Thats His intention now except He cant get anyone to listen to Him as these idiots blather on with war, greed, power, hatred and bigotry in their hearts and a good cappuccinoesque froth coming out of their mouths.

These are the evangelical activists behind the nation's most effective political machine -- one that brought more than 4 million new Christian voters to the polls last November, sending George W. Bush back to the White House and thirty-two new pro-lifers to Congress.

True. And for every one million of them, there are 2 million Christians so disgusted by this asinine prattle that they are tempted to become Buddhists.

Spiritually, they all have old Chevys on their front lawns up on blocks and have a tendency to be theologically inbred.

As the far-right wing of the evangelical movement, Dominionists are pressing an agenda that makes Newt Gingrich's Contract With America look like the Communist Manifesto. They want to rewrite schoolbooks to reflect a Christian version of American history, pack the nation's courts with judges who follow Old Testament law, post the Ten Commandments in every courthouse and make it a felony for gay men to have sex and women to have abortions. In Florida, when the courts ordered Terri Schiavo's feeding tube removed, it was the Dominionists who organized round-the-clock protests and issued a fiery call for Gov. Jeb Bush to defy the law and take Schiavo into state custody. Their ultimate goal is to plant the seeds of a "faith-based" government that will endure far longer than Bush's presidency -- all the way until Jesus comes back.

Thats a decent synopsis. Which means it is about POWER not St. Pauls hierarchy of faith hope and love...but the greatest of these is love nonsense, right?

Just to set the record straight. Jesus comes back when things are really shitty and utterly wrong and not when His self-appointed moron/minions are in power and ruling the everyone like Egypt ruled the Israelites.

"The most humble Christian is more qualified for office than the best-educated pagan," says Cass, an anti-abortion activist who led a takeover of his school district's board in San Diego. Yes, just like Cass wants his humble Christian neighbor to perform open heart surgery on his wife and have the same one set the bone of his sons leg instead of a qualified and pagan doctor. Somehow I doubt that most severely.

On the other hand, if these Fundagelicals begin to practice what they preach, as Cass suggests, there will be a lot less of them in twenty yearslike Christian Scientists.

Cass also presents another small-town activist, Kevin McCoy, with a Salt and Light Award for leading a successful campaign to shut down an anti-bullying program in West Virginia schools. McCoy, a soft-spoken, prematurely gray postal worker, fought to end the program because it taught tolerance for gay people -- and thus, in his view, constituted a "thinly disguised effort to promote the homosexual agenda." "What America needs," Cass tells the faithful, "is more Kevin McCoys."

Yes, what America needs is more disgruntled postal employees with an angry agenda against others. And lets throw in some McCoys and Hatfields as well to make it interesting!

Back pain is diminished by some muscle relaxers that left me feeling like a bug in the middle of a cock fight...SHUDDER...or perhaps like most Iraqi citizens who have been liberated times 1,000. Either way, it became obvious to me in my drug-induced state that the simple and hyperbolic answer to all our problems is to simply round up the hate-mongering, greed-infested so-called Christian activists who have hijacked the entire country (and several parts of the world), and either put them all to sleep quietly, or lock them in the Astrodome and fill it every other hour, alternately, with helium, and then laughing gas.

It's the only logical and final solution and my own modest proposal.

For you FBI agents watching, that is what we writers call satire. So take off your shiny boots and take a pill, er...muscle relaxer.

It's been a rough week for Jesus. 189 new mindless megachurches opened across America (some of them in shopping malls), His Holiness died in Rome, people continue to ignore His commandments about not hating, killing and judging each other, and now this, the announcement that some Ditz in the UK is going to open Holyland a Biblical theme park. Before leaving Ark Alive, billed as the place where Disney meets the Bible, children would also have the experience of expulsion from the Garden of Eden, being swallowed by a whale, escaping from a lions den and walking on water.

Ignoring Gods promise that he would never need another Ark, the developer plans to house the whole park in a gigantic spanking new four-story high Ark. The developer has insisted it is a vision from God. Now she just needs a gazillion of Gods Faithful to cough up the bucks, er pounds, to make it happen.

In the Mysteries of the Bible area there will be a tribute to the Parbar mentioned in 1 Chronicles 26. Since no one knows what the hell a Parbar is, there will be a simple cloaked area that says Parbar Coming Soon.

Of course malt vinegar is included in typical British style.

In the Holyland theme park store you can purchase a myriad of crosses, decorative Shroud of Turin replicas and throw pillows, and action character sets like the Jonah and Whale Upchuck set, Woman Caught in Adultery set, and the Angel Healing Portico Set with timing bell.

As participants are leaving the park after a full day of biblical fun, they have to exit one of seven doors which lead to a common area where they will be greeted by the luminous angel of each of the churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Prizes or punishments will be handed out accordingly. Some will be gently "spewed out", but for the few who make it all the way, they will ride the boats to freedom down the River of Life and eat of the Tree of Life as they exit the Giant theme ark.

Somebody Stole My Jesus Crib

Forget rampant unemployment, social unrest, a country divided in half (okay 50.5 to 49.5), Global Warming, or even “Four More Wars” from George W. Bush…the real crisis the modern world is facing is obviously spiritual.
The cover story of this week’s Time magazine was not the war in Iraq, Afghanistan, or any of the above. It was about the “Secrets of the Nativity”. In other words it was about the “creche”…Jesus’ original “crib”.

That is all “creche” means is “crib” or “manger”.

Sure, Jesus’ crib was not like the MTV cribs we are so accustomed to. Not a lot like Ashton Kutcher’s crib (replete with Demi Moore crib), or certainly the cribs of Papa Roach, Tony Hawk or Shannon Elizabeth. But, a crib is a crib.
In fact, Jesus’ crib was literally a “feeding trough” in an old cold barn, warmed only by the family, and later, some shepherds. Oh, and there was also probably a lot of livestock, so there was also the warmth and smell of their methane creating defecations (the beginnings of “Global Barn Warming”).

Looking at other’s nice cribs on MTV is kinda fun (for about 7 minutes), but I never expected to have my own Jesus crib stolen. But it happened.

Somebody stole my Jesus crib.

As an Internet researcher and journalist I wondered and checked the news for other creche-related events…omigod!! A wax “Beckham”, depicted as a member of the Holy Family has been pushed over in a Museum creche (crib) in London:

And 70 people protested having George W. Bush, Tony Blair, and Prince Philip as being depicted as the “three wise men” there.

Personally, if you read down, the choice of Samuel L. Jackson as one of the shepherds seems safe, but I wouldn’t trust Hugh Grant around the sheep.

Here is just how pervasive this global creche crisis has become. In London, David Beckham, and his lovely wife Victoria, are depicted as the holy parents of Jesus at Madame Tussauds museum.

The “Joseph” (David) and his wife “Mary” (Victoria, otherwise known as the "Posh" Spice Girl) wax figures were attacked by a man offended by their attempts to look after the baby Jesus in his crib (er, feeding trough). It was rumored that the attacker tried to abscond with one of the waxened Holy Family in order to start a small mail order candle business, but he has not yet been apprehended.

Fortunately, Real Madrid star defender Walter Samuel, who just happened to be touring the museum at the time, was able to successfully deflect all of the following attempts to score on the Holy Beckhams.

“It was just second-nature,” Samuel said later.

In harmony with the star thematic renditions of the Tussaud exhibit, the baby Jesus was a simple wax rendition of “Mini-Me”.
